Flat commercial roof in Arizona

Foam & Flat Roofing

Flat and low-slope roofs are common across Arizona, from Southwestern-style homes to offices and warehouses, and many of them are spray foam. Foam insulates well and sheds water when it's sloped right, but the coating on top is what protects it from the sun. When that coating wears thin or water starts to pond, a recoat or targeted repair usually costs far less than a new roof.

Foam roofs

A foam roof is sprayed on as a liquid that expands into a seamless, insulating layer, then coated to protect it from UV. We apply new foam, build up low spots so water drains, and recoat worn surfaces.

New spray foam roofs
Re-foaming low spots to correct slope
Elastomeric coatings and recoats
Blister and crack repair

Other flat roof systems

We also repair and replace other low-slope systems on homes and commercial buildings.

TPO and EPDM membranes
Built-up roofing (BUR)
Drains, scuppers and flashing
Leak repair on any flat roof

We have a flat roof which can be difficult at times. One of our skylights leaked and created damage to the ceiling. ProGuard put new foam to level the roof and correct slope, then resealed our roof. We had some difficulty with scheduling and 12:00 that really meant 4:00 with the crew. Next time I will adjust my expectations and save us all the frustration. But to be as honest and fair as possible I am hoping to hire them for another job, they were worth the wait, and some minor frustrations. The quality of work was wonderful and his crews were friendly, professional, and clean. And most of all the price was fair.

FAQs

How do I know if my foam roof needs a recoat?

When the coating wears thin, the foam underneath is exposed to the sun and starts to break down — it turns darker and powdery. Exposed foam, cracks or blisters, or water standing for days after a storm are all signs it's time for an inspection.

Is recoating cheaper than replacing a foam roof?

Usually, as long as the foam underneath is still sound. A recoat restores the protective layer without removing anything. If water has gotten into the foam, those sections are cut out and re-foamed first.

What causes water to pond on a flat roof?

Low spots from settling, wear or the original installation. Standing water speeds up wear and finds any weak spot, so we re-foam low areas to restore the slope toward the drains.

Do you work on flat roofs on homes, or only commercial buildings?

Both. Many Arizona homes have foam or flat sections, especially older and Southwestern-style homes, and we repair and recoat them the same way.
